Observation of Seismic Phenomena in Space

ABSTRACT

Short-term variations of electromagnetic radiation and particle fluxes in relation to seismic
activity have been measured by instruments on satellites over the last four decades. An explanation of the phenomena requires the propagation of effects produced in the lithosphere into the atmosphere, ionosphere and magnetosphere. The scepticism engendered by a subject which requires a broad range of competences is a stimulus and source of motivation. You have to make the effort to understand what other people do. A brief historical review of the experimental results and the recent results obtained here in Trento are presented.
